A lot longer, considering that any IP connection first sends a SYN
packet, then waits for an ACK, and only then starts tranmsmitting..

(...) That long of a delay is very unusual. Does your ISP have any thoughts on where it all was sitting stuck? They might be able to tell you by looking at the SMTP message headers. On a (marginally) related note, I wonder if NASA will ever drop a (...) (25 years ago, 10-Jun-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
