    Re: Linux Certifications —Steven Vore
(...) Hey, as my manager once said (when I was asking if I should look into MCSE, way back when), "it can't hurt." :-) -Steven (URL) (25 years ago, 13-Jan-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

        Re: Linux Certifications —Jasper Janssen
(...) I have never heard of people getting jobs, getting rejected for jobs, or getting a higher salary based on RH certs. I _have_ heard of people not getting jobs at least partly based on the fact that they were MCSEs. Again, take that as you will. (...) (25 years ago, 13-Jan-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

        Re: Linux Certifications —Steven Vore
I wonder if that's because of the relative "newness" of the various certs or because they're not being publicised by a large monolithic company or because not enough managers/HR departments know what Linux is or if Unix people in general rely on (...)      (...) Heh. Yeah, for small networks, you really can. In fact, for usability's sake, I'd much rather turn one of my spare PC's into a "router" than buy even a used Cisco router. Not sure I'd do it with NT rather than Linux, though. I'm hoping I can (...) (25 years ago, 15-Jan-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

         Re: Linux Certifications —Jasper Janssen
(...) Well, yes. But NT? My NAT box[1] would quite happily function with a few extra network cards in it as a router, I'm sure. (...) Just get a _real_ router. If it doesn't fill up two 19" racks to six feet... ;) Jasper [1] 386DX40/12M/100M. And (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jan-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
