  Camera question

Have a look at (URL) answer our question if you can. Thank you. Cross posted too Geek because they may be able to help too. -- Nicole widow of Kenneth A. Drumm Ph.D. (23 years ago, 15-Aug-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: RGB color values for many brick colors

Hey, thanks for that information. I was actually looking for that this week. You might want to post that under the reference section at Ldraw.org, as well. It might help some people trying to make renderings. Thx, Mike (...) (23 years ago, 15-Aug-01, to lugnet.publish, lugnet.trains, lugnet.faq, lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.cad)

Re: Font on Mecha Hall of Fame?

(...) Whenever someone says "mechs" I think of the boxy things FASA made such a big deal about. :^P ~Grand Admiral Muffin Head (23 years ago, 14-Aug-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Font on Mecha Hall of Fame?

"Mechas" is the incorrect plural form of mecha. Mecha is like the word "fish", it can be used both as a singular and as plural noun. Of course, if you're talking about non-Japanese-anime-inspired robots you can use the word mechs... ;-) (...) (23 years ago, 14-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Math/Optics Problem

(...) Really? I woulda thought it had more to do with the zoom rather than the focus. But then again, I'm really not sure how the lenses in cameras work. I guess my assumption (based on nothing at all I think) is: {A}--------B--------...E)--F--[G] (...) (23 years ago, 14-Aug-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Math/Optics Problem

(...) Alrighty. Since I have been studying this stuff for the past month and am supposed to pass a test about it, let's see what I can do. (...) Depends. Does it "focus"? The "fisheye" constant you're referring to is, in technical terms, called the (...) (23 years ago, 14-Aug-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: RGB color values for many brick colors

Hi All, I updated my element color palette. Thanks for all the fine comments. It's on our club web site www.pnltc.org under "Articles" There are some links at the bottom of the table that point to some nice reference material.   Re: Math/Optics Problem

David: (...) <activate brain/> Hmmm... Maybe not. The focus is probably rather affecting the "small obscure" supposedly only "camera dependent" supposedly "constant". (...) I think I have to open a camera (or an optics textbook) and have a look. (...) (23 years ago, 14-Aug-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Math/Optics Problem

(...) Hmm... So both the zoom and the focus affect the fisheye constant? How exactly does the focus change it? I guess I'm imagining the same actual image in and out of focus and not seeing actual change in the image's shapes & relative sizes... (...) (23 years ago, 14-Aug-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Math/Optics Problem

David: (...) No. (...) No. (...) Yes: Focus (I think). (...) dist. from camera = (fisheye const.)*(actual height)/(photo height) + (small obscure camera dependent constant) Since you only ask about the relative distance, the "small doesn't matter. (...)   Math/Optics Problem

So. Let's assume I have a photograph of Bob standing in front of his house. Knowing Bob the way I do, I know that Bob is 6 feet tall. And asking him later, I know that his house is 30 feet tall. Now I want to find out how far in front of his house (...) (23 years ago, 13-Aug-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) Cool! I don't think I ever saw that one! But I often though it woulda been really cool to build a washing machine in one of those RK06 disk drive modules! ROSCO (23 years ago, 10-Aug-01, to lugnet.off-topic.fun, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Brickshelf has moved

(...) Yeah, kinda. What happens is pretty much this: - Every computer (essentially) has an address, called an IP address. - The nameservers for the internet associate a name with an IP. So when you type in "www.lugnet.com", the internet nameservers (...) (23 years ago, 10-Aug-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Brickshelf has moved

Let me get this straight, BrickShelf has two URLs. On is 206.131.246.36 and the other is BrickShelf.com, right? Sorry, if I'm not thinking straight today... ;-) ~Mladen (...) (23 years ago, 10-Aug-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

What old address? If you mean 216.2.22.36, that's gone now. If you see anything at that address it is a cached page. KL (...) (23 years ago, 10-Aug-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

While many hate Microsoft and Gates, Gates may be the single individual with the most responsibility towards the "computer in every household (or close to it)" environment we have today.
