(...) if you're scripting, why not just write a script that would edit your files for you? that way, you run one command, and it'll update the 14 (or 2 :) files that need updates... (...) Geek value. :) Actually, there can be some real uses, too. Sure, if it's just four or five machines, it's easy to keep up a hosts file on each of them. (...) Sure, but it's not a good idea. If you're making fake domains, don't use a real top-level. It's better to do something like "jamie.local" and "imndiot.local".
