Re: OT: P!$#ed of at ebay.com.au

(...) And the sixth dumbest thing is how vi makes a big deal about "all the most import keys are right on the home row", and then a) foolishly has your right hand shifted one key to the left of where it should be and b) makes you hit ESC a lot, even (...) (...) I'll nominate a fifth dumbest thing: contemporary use of QWERTY keyboards that were originally designed to make typing slower and more difficult. John (24 years ago, 6-Oct-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: OT: P!$#ed of at ebay.com.au

(...) I thought the DIN A4, B5, etc. paper sizes were based on the Golden Mean, not the square root of 2. Or are those two different flavors of the same universal constant? But your #3 item is just a variation of #1. Heck, so is #2. Earlier in the (...) (24 years ago, 6-Oct-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) ...oh, I forgot to mention...the DIN paper sizes fully rule. :-) I just remembered the fouth dumbest thing: it's 12-hour clocks with a.m. and p.m. instead of 24-hour clocks -- especially digital alarm clocks. I wonder if anyone has ever -not- (...) (24 years ago, 5-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.au, lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Your SW Custom Work

(...) It's a bug in the way that MSIE 4.5 sends new lines. I had this problem as well, until I upgraded to MSIE 5.0. HTH, ~Mark (24 years ago, 3-Oct-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Your SW Custom Work

(...) That's so bizzare, but IIRC it seems to be consistent with other posts you've made being chopped, IIRC. Anyway, if by "this service" you mean MSIE 4.5 for Mac_PowerPC (the browser used to post your message, according to its headers), that (...)   Reducing fussiness in automated password appraisal

Many people feel that the Member password checks on LUGNET are overly stringent -- that it is too hard to come up with a good password that passes the strength appraisal: (URL) is also comfortable to remember. Does anyone know where I can get the best deal on a Coolpix 990? Thanks, --Bram (24 years ago, 30-Sep-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Writing A Proposal

Yes, there are cases where this is not true. Sets using 00428840 as the company identifier follow with the set number and checksum digit. However, Lego has another company identifier which is 57020109 followed by the set number and checksum digit. (...) (24 years ago, 30-Sep-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
