  Text::Query

(...) No, it's using a homebrew. I probably should look into Text::Query though, if it's loaded with callbacks and/or easy member-function overloading. What I threw together isn't very smart about word roots, and it isn't very fast either. But it (...) (25 years ago, 29-Jun-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Tan color again?

(...) Well, whatever the case, I just used that module for a CGI script at work. I *really* like it. Espcially, in that you can construct query strings approaching the usefulness of boolean algebra, but with a less wordy syntax. I noticed (1) that (...)   Re: True Geekness

(...) Well, one reason is that that /news/groups/ page is obsolescent, but as soon as some meaningful icon for the traffic/activity page comes to mind, then it'll probably appear in a whole bunch of places. --Todd (25 years ago, 29-Jun-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.admin.general)

Web Site Announcement and HTML question.

I have been working on redesigning my Web page (again I know) with a better tool. Everything looks good and seems to work great except for one thing. I have a Menu at the top of my page that has Hypertext links to sections of my homepage. These (...)   Re: Fun with JAVA

(...) Hmmm... C++ uses generally the same syntax, and it can reference the Java API... That *must* mean... nah. The things that make Java Java, are not available in Javascript. These things include but aren't limited to: object-oriented (1) (...) (25 years ago, 28-Jun-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Fun with JAVA

(...) That's interesting. I've had many things crash Netscape for me -- Quicktime 3.0, Shockwave, HTML, etc. -- but never Java. Do you visit particularly bad applets? Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 28-Jun-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: What is "powerful"?

(...) Boot up time issues aren't unique to Windows. I was always annoyed at how long OS/2 took to boot up at work. Now that I use AIX on an RS/6000, Windows and OS/2 start up instantly by comparison, though a large part of the slowness of AIX (...) (25 years ago, 28-Jun-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Perl rules!

  Re: Fun with JAVA

(...) Java crashes Nutscrape. Javascript doesn't. (...) In my client, all it can do is open a mailto: window, or send an email with the contents of a form _after_ you click a button, IIRC. (...) Except crashing the computer. Jasper (25 years ago, 28-Jun-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: X-Face: usage?

  Re: Perl rules!

(...) The problem with perl, I am told, is that it's also incredibly easy to do things exactly the wrong way. In fact, it's vastly easier than to do it the right way. Just like in any other language, of course, but in perl, "there is always more (...) (25 years ago, 27-Jun-99, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Good image-format converters

Does anyone know of any good(windows) programs that can convert graphics from the .bmp to .gif or .jpg format.   Re: What is "powerful"?

(...) Anyone planning on taking a look at the $199 iToaster?   anyone ordered stuff from x10.com?

(URL) from the fact that this place seems to always be running "hurry up and buy it before it goes off sale in 2 days" promotions, their stuff looks pretty cool.
