I need to follow up on Sproat's pointers to other Java solutions but the Mindterm suggestion (which both Matt and Sproat made, independently, I believe) is an excellent one and I appreciate (...) (...) missed the first message about this, but 'setleds' seems like it would do the trick. try adding '/usr/bin/setleds -D +num' to your x startup script. or am i .. missing a deeper question that was in the original message? :) (24 years ago, 22-Jun-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  RE: Grrr... another virus

Actually, there's one with a .shs extension going around now, too. This is possibly the one you got. We got a warning about it here at work a couple of days ago. If you want any mor info on it, let me know. Benjamin Whytcross (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jun-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Grrr... another virus

Hey, Personally I hate getting the warnings as much as the viruses... BUT... My mom got an email laballed "Fwd: JOKE". When she opened it, it replaced the content of all our .jpg, .wav, .mp3 and other files with some VBS c**p. Lucky for us, almost (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jun-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

RSA patents (Was: VT100 over the web)

(...) Now, does anyone honestly believe that RSA will just let benefits from the patent just lapse? It's their #1 ticket, the cream of their crop, their reason for being. I'm sure there's something lurking within the DMCA (1) that would allow them (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jun-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Numlock in KDE / Gnome?

(...) I have trouble believing this, but as far as I can tell (and I asked several people who know more than I) there is no good way, short of patching the code. Apparently, the numlock key acts as a modifier in X, and it might somehow confuse some (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jun-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Numlock in KDE / Gnome?

Hey all, While we're injecting more life into .geek, can anyone tell me how I can force numlock on when I start my X session? I'm (currently) using KDE v1.x, but I'd rather it be a generic X solution... Thanks, - jsproat (24 years ago, 21-Jun-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Web hosting

I use NovaHosting in VA. Base accounts start at 9.95, decent disk space for 14.95,: POP accounts, SSH, CGI, etc. They were cheaper than pair, I've had good success with them for the last year.
