(...) Hmm.. was it formatted with a program of some kind? (Like it was written for writing CD-R's?) If it is an audio CD, it sometimes does not put that track marker on it to signifyh the end of the CD. I have had that problem before. I know the HP (...) Hi, I tried to access a CD-R with the CD-ROM. It failed to access and locked up. When I restart the system, the "E:\" choice is unavailable in the explorer. Anybody know what I should do to recover from this situation? This is Windows NT on a Compaq (...) (24 years ago, 31-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Hi: I finally broke down and installed RedHat Linux on a spare HD on my PIII system (goodbye Bill!). My only previous experiance with Unix was when I was forced to be the system administrator for an HP-UX system running seriously mission critical (...) (...) Penguin Computing looks good to me (although I admit we've only got a couple of systems from them here so I don't have much personal experience with them a company).
