I can definitely tie a remembrance to about age 1 to 2. I remember
standing at the end of our street looking over the RR tracks into
downtown. We moved from that house somewhere in that time frame.
I also vividly remember the first time I saw the house and street again
as a teenager, and realizing that obviously hills look bigger when
you're small, because the embankment down to the tracks which I
remembered as like ten feet was actually just a couple feet.
My most memorable early memory was when I was about 3. We were on a long
vacation, driving across country, and having a picnic in Yosemite. While
we were eating, a bear wandered into camp. I'm not sure why I wasn't the
first one put back into the van, but I remember standing on top of the
picnic table waiting for my parents to take me to the car. I also
remember watching in fascination as the bear walked right over a man who
was taking a nap on a blanket (darn good thing he didn't wake up).
I definitely have other early memories, such as my father showing up at
a campground near home with a new van (the new van was the one taken
cross country). I also definitely remember the VW van which it replaced.
I think my dad commuted to work from the campground sometimes.
I am suspicious of other early memories because of pictures of them. For
example, I may or may not remember much about my first home, but the two
most vivid images are definitely from pictures.

I did confirm with my brother that he had a magician for his 4th birthday party, so that takes me back to 2 (...) (22 years ago, 15-Aug-02, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

| No, not iron age or any flippant answers. :-) (URL) cheap party question I ask people. The vast majority of people who have responded to this usually say they can't remember anything before going off to school for the first time (kindergarten, age (...)
