Hehe. Once back many years ago, I looked up to see if tanks got miles

People joke that way about the cars I've owned, a 1970 Olds Cutlass,
a 1981 Chevrolet Suburban, a 1970 Plymouth Fury, a 1999 Dodge Dakota
R/T, and a 1969 Dodge Coronet.

Hey, they think it's amusing. Me, I know that except in one case, I had
small engines in each of them. [0] But they think it's funny. So when I
get asked what kind of mileage I get, I say, "Oh, about 2.8."

I don't bother telling them that that's not miles per gallon, that's
light-years per cubic mile.

[0] The Dakota has the largest engine available in that vehicle, but the rest
of them are all 350 or 318 powered. The GMs could've had a 400, 455 (Olds) or
454 (Chevy), the Mopars could've had 383s, 426s, or 440s. 318s and 350s are
_small_ engines. :)

[*] For those of you in metric-speaking countries, fuel economy is backward
in the US. Instead of speaking of how many liters it takes to drive 100
kilometers, we talk of how many miles (1.6ish kilometers) we get out of
a gallon (3.89 liters) of gas (petrol). So we think bigger numbers are
"better."
