  Re: Piece sorting methods

(...) Huh? I thought MS wrote all the above. Who did MS buy them from? (26 years ago, 16-Dec-98, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: Piece sorting methods

(...) Oops - NT was written by IBM, which MS obvisouly didn't buy. It was originally called something like "Windows OS/2" or something, then after the split, most of the really good parts went into OS/2. I don't remember exactly who wrote Word, (...)   Re: Piece sorting methods

(...) Shouldn't that be "the Windows buyer gets the bugs"? I just worked with MacOS and I was impressed! After a whole days work, I didn't get a single ErrorMessage, BSoD or Dr. Watson!!! This is proof: it CAN be done right! (Please mr. Gates. Steel (...) (26 years ago, 21-Dec-98, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

(...) Oh I don't know... "640k ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates, 1983 or thereabouts.... Of course, that was later, so your statement still stands :) (...) Possibly. (...) Linux isn't stable because it's an open source project. It's not portable, it's not scalable, no one uses it for anything serious, and it'll soon be in violation of the standards as soon as Microsoft invents them. Microsoft invented the (...)   Re: Piece sorting methods

(...) I just thought I'd mention that VB is my personal bogeyman of the moment. I very much prefer a scripting language that has meat to it, such as Perl. Having said that, I just read something that chilled my blood. Evidently, PC Magazine named (...) (26 years ago, 22-Dec-98, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

(...) No, it isn't stable because it's an open source project. It's stable because it's stable. (...) Not portable huh? Did I see Red Hat on Intel, Alpha, PowerPC, and some others? not serious? How many ISPs do I know that use Linux as their *nix (...) (26 years ago, 23-Dec-98, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)
