But my pyramid consumed quite a few of both, especially when I ran out of 2x4's, and 2x3's were all that was left. 1x3's were essential for the corners. I find that I end up using most of my bricks regardless of size...I find the 1x1's _very_ useful in my projects because my attempts to replicate 'realistic' architecture on a minifig scale always seem to leave holes in the weirdest places. (...) you can use 4x4 radar dishes to lid them but since the dishes don't come in brown they are really, as you put it, best suited for rain barrels. (...) I really like the big western barrels myself. It would be cool to have lids for them, but reversed and on their sides I think they make cool casks for a winery/brewery. I wouldn't count hinge-plates in pairs, because there are a fair number of elements with 2- or 3-finger hinges which aren't paired -- the control lever (rod with end-stud and 3-finger hinge), the robot finger (3L rod with 3-finger hinge at one (...) (...) Correctamundo (...) I can see their point in the manufacturing/packaging processes. With their volume though, the added costs should be minimal.
