no. no. I hope not. not really.
Did we remember that the kid was 8 years old? I'm sure some of you have
children this age and I have a brother who is currently 8.
This kid probably would have gotten less punishment if the victim was
peer. If the actual victim were traumatized by an 8 year old kid
wielding a chicken finger at them I'd say they should not be teaching 8
year old kids.

IMO, the appropriate response would be take the kid aside and give him a
stern voice. IF the kid continued to be problematic with the same issue
then the roots are most likely deep enough that he should get some help
to determine that -- suspension provides for a day off school.
