Re: My Official Viewpoint —Mark Sandlin
(...) <snip> (...) I don't mind having to display ID to gain access to adult privileges. What I meant by "censor" are the efforts of Irate Parent Groups who wish to ban things like videogames or CDs etc. because they dislike them. (...) No, I have (...)         Re: My Official Viewpoint —Christopher L. Weeks
(...) OK, I'm behind you on this stance. I agree. When I was a teen Tipper Gore was famous for making waves trying to get the PMRTC (or whatever, I know that's not right) in place to regulate music lyrics. I'm opposed. OTOH, volluntary rating (...)         Re: My Official Viewpoint —Mark Sandlin
(...) All righty then. I took your response to mean "Hopefully we won't change our minds and have kids" Just one of those misintrepretations that happens in newsgroups sometimes. No harm, no foul. ~Mark "Muffin Head" Sandlin (24 years ago, 5-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: My Official Viewpoint —Christopher L. Weeks
(...) Oh my! Looking over that, I can see what you mean. Sorry, not at all what I meant. I'm seriously trying to disagree with you in a mature way. Chris (24 years ago, 5-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: My Official Viewpoint —Jude Beaudin
(...) Frankly Mark, I think it is totally stupid that you have to go to such a length to explain why you hold the opinion that you do not like JarJar. I think it an even further insult that you have to qualify your explanations. If Gungans were real (...) (24 years ago, 5-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: My Official Viewpoint —Christopher L. Weeks
(...) But Jude, he doesn't have to. (...) See above. (...) This is like totally missing the points. (Which have gone way beyond Jar-jar, and into the meat of censorship and societal obligation.) (...) I agree with this sentiment completely. But that (...) (24 years ago, 5-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: My Official Viewpoint —Larry Pieniazek
(...) I ain't Mark but I think I can put forth two reasons... both legitimate. 1. Uncritical examination of my original post (and let's face it, who has time to read every word of my pontification and ponder the meaning in depth, especially when it (...)         Re: My Official Viewpoint —Jude Beaudin
(...) Larry, What is the point that I am missing? (not rhetorical) I guess I must be thick or I did not follow the topic close enough. :-) Jude (24 years ago, 6-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: My Official Viewpoint —Larry Pieniazek
(...) 2 posts back... so the >> are not quite right Chris said: (...) Helps? To my way of thinking this particular subthread is not about JarJar per se, or even about real characters vs. fantasy. It's about when is portrayal of the initiation of (...)          Re: My Official Viewpoint —Jude Beaudin
Larry, Thanks. I now realize my post would have been more appropriate to the other branch of this thread where the debate seems to be more on the JarJar hatred than the whole responsability issue. As far as the censorship debate goes, I personally (...) (24 years ago, 6-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: My Official Viewpoint —Frank Filz
(...) What I would love to see for the web is a simple set of html "ratings" tags. These would be voluntarily applied by authors, and would be used by browsers to block access or give warning before proceding as the machine owner desires (and I do (...)          Re: My Official Viewpoint —Mark Sandlin
(...) I remember when Tipper pushed through the "Parental Advisory" labels on CD/Tape packaging. I was in Junior High or High School at the time (don't remember exactly which) and soon after she got those pushed through, there were T-shirts and hats (...)          Re: My Official Viewpoint —Todd Lehman

Re: My Official Viewpoint —Felix Greco
(...) Greco's annoyance was a bit misdirected, so I apologize. I was more annoyed with Dan for instantly changing his cartoon. I didn't think you were calling for any type of censorship. (24 years ago, 6-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
