I would actually disagree. Sorry to go off on a theological tangent here, but I believe that no human does evil for the sake of evil (does Satan? hmm, still not sure), but rather for the sake of some perversion of what is felt to be a good thing. The root of all sin (evil) is taking something out of its proper place, and subverting all else to that thing.

This is an interesting point of view here Bruce. Although I am not religious and I don’t see things in terms of good/evil and sin. Nazism being based on hate is not doing evil for evil’s sake.

Within your metaphor, the hate of Nazism is to strike out against that which is percieved to be attacking the Volk (German People). However, that would hold true with German Nationalism which isn’t based on hate. What seperates Nazism from Nationalism is that the Nazi percieves the threat in a paranoid and irrational way. For example, Jewish people actually helped the German people - the Holocaust’s first step was to try to remove Jewish people from the economy and it wasn’t easy to do. Only someone who is going out of their way to ignore plain facts can percieve them as a threat. That person is consumed by hatred.

Of course hatred is just a perverted form of love, so in a sense, you are correct. The Nazi feels he is motivated by love and loyalty to the Volk, but the third-person observer sees that he is truly motivated by hate.

Again, I don’t equate hatred with evil.

Again, I apologize that this post has nothing to do with LEGO, this particular creation, or even the advisability of making MOCs based on hateful regimes.

Welcome to OTD. This sort of thing is welcome here ;o).
