I don't think there's any getting around the fact that Christmas is a
religious holiday. I know that there are lots of other holidays that many
people celebrate around the winter solstice. However, Christmas happens to be
one of the religiously based ones.
I hope that people who choose to not participate are doing so for reasons
other than not liking God and religion. Personally, I'm not building anything
for the contest just because I'd have to glue my stuff together if I made it to
the finals. (Do they REALLY expect people to do that!?)

Larry, I think you need to get an extra Christmas tree for your house and
have Nik decorate it with ornaments made entirely from LEGO soccar balls. From
a distance, it just might look alright.
