This is off topic for .debate... it belongs in .geek! C'mon guys!
Now if you want to debate whether melting Mars is a good idea or not, that's
different. :-)
Personally I'm not sure it's a good idea, or necessary. There's plenty of waste
rock to build habitats out of, no need to wreck Mars just to get a magnetic
field going.
