EAT IT PORTUGAL!!!!!!   : )P

Well, we played poorly and DESERVED defeat. But I see you have only *two*
goals to bragg about, US #3 and #4 (which was the best in the match ;-)

USA-3  Portugal-2.....best game of the Cup so far.

You have seen little, then.
The match was *null*, and I'm not just saying this 'cause we lost. It was a
truckload of missed shots, and I'm *ashamed* our coach did not put Frechaut,
Nuno Gomes and Ricardo (GK) right for the second half. Sponsorships oblige
(1)... :-(
Much to say to the american defense, though: the guy covering Pauleta was
really on top of him all the time! And the overall american team-play was
fluid, however far from brilliant.
Now let's see what happens when you face the house... (Korea is IMO the
group's surprise - they *smashed* Poland!).

Anyway, I reiterate we deserved to lose *because we played poorly*. Let's
see what happens now, we have all our main players "out of order" and noone
to replace them.

On a side note, this morning I went to college with a grin and came back
with a cloud over my head. I won't be too far from the truth when I say my
country is now going through a collective emotional crisis, after all there
was much hope surrounding this team. But it seems that instead of "England
'66 enhanced", Portugal will go through Mexico '86 all over again (2)

*Sigh!*
Hope is the last one to fall,

Pedro

(1) - Figo has been injured since FCP-Real Madrid early this year, and would
not even be in the team if Nike hadn't made a millionaire contract "forcing"
it to happen. It's like Ronaldo in '98, and here is the result.... The coach
should re-think the team under these circumstances, it is too centered
around this player as it is.
(2) - In '66 Portugal was 3rd with a fantastic team, in '86 the players held
a strike during the WC (needless to say what the outcome was).
