Before I start feeling any worse about myself (j/k folks), my comments at
http://news.lugnet.com/off-topic/debate/?n=13624 weren't meant to _refute_
Berlusconi as such, just to indicate that he is coming from a very biased
perspective. I suspect there's a link between his "politics" and this
instance of "we are number one" drum-beating. His conclusions make some
sense _if_ you accept his premises and broadly agree with his perspective on
the world -- I tried to read some of the subtext. Interpretation, not
debunking per se.
But given the choice between Berlusconi's soundbite, Goldberg's spin or
Lewis' analysis I'll take the latter.
