Fair enough, sorry in turn if I came across a bit strong. In fairness you
didn't, I was overreacting.

In fact, reading back through various archives (I can't give a very crisp
search string but try one with Quixote in it) here will reveal that I've
done a fair bit of crusading against the "false rare" auctioneers you
describe, to the point of running afoul of newly changed eBay TOS by doing
things like:

- mailing buyers with purchase info
- starting competing auctions for widely available sets with the description
explaining that I just went and bought it and here's how you could too.
- auctioning off just the instructions for a widely available set with an
auction description that clearly described how to get it from S@H
- auctioning off the empty box for same with the same info.

which are now against ToS because eBay apparently wants to enable their
power sellers to keep doing this false rare thing and because any
description of how one actually got a set apparently cuts into eBay's
percieved market. Feh!

If you see any eBay listings from me I am pretty thorough in listing my
sources, nevertheless.

Where this raised my red flags (or red cape if you want to use the toreador
analogy) is that in the past there have indeed been rather vicious wars
about the practice of buying and reselling stock (search on blue hopper for
example) and your comments could be seen as tending in that direction. On
reflection, they weren't.

Peace.

(...) Actually, I didn't generalise at all. I criticized a "few" auctioneers who I have seen in the past rip the pants off of people( not neccesarily lego auctions only here ie. hockey card auctions, hotwheels auctions ). For example, a auctioneer (...) (23 years ago, 5-Jul-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
