The rate has stayed the same as it was originally, despite a lot of doom and gloom at the time it was introduced that the goverment would inevitably increase the rate. Hello to any Canadians, A GST is due to be introduced in Australia in July this year. Fresh food is exempted (plus a few other things) and the rate is 10%. Of course, the trouble with having exams etc come easy (relatively), is that at some point one reaches a subject or chunk of knowledge which requires you to WORK to understand it... andfor me at least, I'd never learned to.
