Re: Libertarian stuff (Was: Re: Art Debate Was: [Re: Swearing?])

(...) "Libertopia" comes across (to me) as a name specifically chosen to drive home the point that it _is_ utopia. You did a fairly bad job if the above was what you were trying to convey with the name. Would have been better to avoid any mention of (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jan-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Art Debate Was: [Re: Swearing?]

(...) Ah yes... slap a tax on it instead of trying to set things up to get at the root costs, eh? Typical tax and spend thinking. Why not go after lumber companies for causing erosion when they clear cut, and charge the proper amount to dispose of (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jan-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Art Debate Was: [Re: Swearing?]

(...) Yes, but in my understanding (which I'm willing to admit may be flawed) a Libertarian system would grant corporations much more power than they currently experience. James (URL) (25 years ago, 17-Jan-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: My Toys R Us Nightmare

(...) Anything really.. following any organised or non organised philosophy may be hazardous to your health. But you can't regulate against unorganised philosophy because there's nothing there! Hope that clears it up! Richard (25 years ago, 17-Jan-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: stuff (was: Art Debate Was: [Re: Swearing?])

(...) What my parents did have nothing to do what I believed in, thank you very much. I chose for what I think is best. My mom never cared too much for politics, and I have not seen my dad in many years. (...) Well, since you know so much about me, (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jan-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Libertarian stuff (Was: Re: Art Debate Was: [Re: Swearing?])

(...) For what it's worth, I have a different take on this than Larry does. I agree that (to me, at least) Libertopia implies "our flavor of utopia" rather than something wholly different. And, I think the use of Liber-rama (which is how I'd spell (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jan-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Libertarian stuff

(...) But in Libertopia, everyone who chose to work would have more money due to wildly less government waste. If we all have more money it will be easier to donate more. So maybe there would then be 'enough' charity. right? (...) Does Libertopia (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jan-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Libertarian stuff

Re: Libertarian stuff (Was: Re: Art Debate Was: [Re: Swearing?])

(...) You've heard of something called inflation, yes? You also realize that in a libertarian system, all that changes is _who_ pays, not _that_ it's paid? And that when the businesses you buy from pay, you still pay? Jasper (25 years ago, 17-Jan-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Art Debate Was: [Re: Swearing?]

(...) I certainly question it. Fortunately it's not what I've been saying. What I have an issue with is rather the artist who is not willing to suffer, but instead feels the world owes him funding as his due, for deigning to have decided to be an (...)
