A very frigid last name--was Re: So we're back to school yard politics...

(...) It's Dutch, and not all that common. It wasn't until I was into my 20's until I met other folks with my last name that I wasn't related to. Here's a pickup line-- A woman I just introduced to--I was 22ish and she was around 20ish-- "Hey Dave, (...) (21 years ago, 5-Jun-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Matrix2

(...) Eeek! Holy Sequel-itous, Batman! What were you thinking? That "The Matrix Reloaded" (a.k.a "The Superman Thing") was going to be deep and philosophical, or the fight scenes interesting? The problem of the first film is its actual success. In (...) (21 years ago, 5-Jun-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Re: So we're back to school yard politics...

(...) I kept wanting to put an R in there for some reason, it just kept looking like cordory to me. Thank you for the pronunciation, outside your family is this a common name? I've never heard it before. Scott Costello Not related to Frank, Elvis, (...) (21 years ago, 5-Jun-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Matrix2

Yeah, I haven't seen the damned thing yet, and I'm not likely to, the way it sounds. The first one was actually artistic, despite ripping off virtually every cyberpunk work of the last fifteen years. If you want more, I'd recommend a copy of the (...) (21 years ago, 5-Jun-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Matrix2

I hope its ok to get off of politics for just a moment. I know I'm probably in the minority here, but did anyone else think that Matrix2 was a big dissapointment? I know better than to expect much from sequels, but I admit to holding out hope on (...) (21 years ago, 5-Jun-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: She's, for me, the best looking former First Lady...

(...) No age discrimination, please. I am still never going to kick Helen Mirren out of bed given the opportunity. I don't care how old she is -- she's sexy, sophisticated, smart, and obviously knows what she is doing. Bring it, Helen!!! In the end, (...)   Re: She's, for me, the best looking former First Lady...

(...) You recall incorrectly. They were returned on Reagan's watch and there was lose of life in a botched rescue attempt. (...) Seem fine to me. (...) If you want to talk about bum raps events, I would say that GWB got the granddaddy of them all on (...) (21 years ago, 5-Jun-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: She's, for me, the best looking former First Lady...

(...) And yet he got all the hostages back whilst sticking to his 'Christian convictions' and, iirc, not firing one shot or a loss oof a life. How's Dubya's Christian convictions doing? I think Carter got a bum rap due to the events of the world--as (...) (21 years ago, 5-Jun-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: She's, for me, the best looking former First Lady...

(...) Which only goes to prove something: Carter had morals and convictions, but he was no great shakes as president. He got voted in by the religious "born again" faction, and he got voted out by the religious "born again" faction. I like him now (...) (21 years ago, 4-Jun-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Should we be concerned?

(...) I would agree that the two situations are very different, but I would classify your unwillingness to equate the two as leftist spin. Both men were caught in large lies. Nixon was lying directly to the American people, and had he not resigned (...) (21 years ago, 4-Jun-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
