Re: Is the Palestinian Cause Dead? The Latest Terror Attacks

(...) Frank, You can't really expect me to read all your posts on this issue just to be sure you mean what you are saying? Asking for Israel to be disestablished is an extreme view held by a minority. (...) The UN borders are not the pre-67 borders (...) (22 years ago, 7-Aug-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Is the Palestinian Cause Dead? The Latest Terror Attacks

(...) If you bothered to read my posts, you would realize that I support turning Israelis out of the illegal settlements. What I was commenting on above is that the solution does not include turning Israelis out of the UN recognized borders, though (...) (22 years ago, 7-Aug-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Instant Runoff Voting

(...) In a perfect world it would work. But I doubt people would not readily accept that type of voting because you have to think of how you fill out the ballot. Also, you still end up with situations of people purposely spoiling ballots, i.e. (...) (22 years ago, 7-Aug-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Instant Runoff Voting

See (URL) more info on a ballot proposal on the Alaska Primary that will do much to give people more choice at less expense. The Alaska LP supports this which is how I heard about it. Instant Runoff means that when you vote you also give second, (...) (22 years ago, 7-Aug-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Is the Palestinian Cause Dead? The Latest Terror Attacks

(...) I think the Israeli people *do* need to be turned out of their homes - just like they were in Sinai. Israel needs to respect international law and pull back its people to the pre-67 borders. Scott A (22 years ago, 7-Aug-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Is the Palestinian Cause Dead? The Latest Terror Attacks

(...) I'm not sure I care who started it (1). What I do care about are the following points: - That we acknowledge that the Jewish people had cause to trust that no existing government would protect their rights. - That we acknowledge that the (...)   Re: The way seeing your General Practicioner ought to work.

(...) I'd have to disagree with this. At least in the US, my perception is that HMO's and PPO's and C3P0's are more concerned with making a profit than practicing good medicine. Greedy corporations are driving up the cost of medicine. Steve (22 years ago, 6-Aug-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: American intelligentsia and the American electorate (WAS Re: slight)

(...) Representative? Dunno. I doubt it. I sure hope not! Dominant? They seem to be. The Tennessee constitution, for example, purportedly bars atheists from holding public office. (URL) have not validated that source. (22 years ago, 6-Aug-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: American intelligentsia and the American electorate (WAS Re: slight)

(...) This is not a snipe(?). Am I not supporting his argument? I can't ever remember agreeing not to "participate in the same threads" as Larry. Further, I am pretty sure he has posted in the same threads as me – he is welcome to. (...) Are John's (...) (22 years ago, 6-Aug-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: American intelligentsia and the American electorate (WAS Re: slight)

(...) ::sigh:: Okay, I'll take the bait -- although I am almost sure to regret it somehow... Yes, I think Dawkins has it right. But I would make the only slightly more subtle point that true religious freedom also includes the right to believe in (...) (22 years ago, 6-Aug-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
