  Re: Greed?

(...) Thanks for jumping in, HopFrog. And sorry to Richard Noeckel. My fault - I mixed up the two names.... Kind Regards, Ben (22 years ago, 16-Apr-02, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Greed?

(...) Actually, Ben, I think you mean me -- I used the word first. There are two Richards underfoot at this point -- the best way to tell the difference between us is that the other Richard is younger and better looking than I am. =oP -- Hop-Frog (22 years ago, 16-Apr-02, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Greed?

(...) Sorry Richard, English is not my mother tongue. So why did I use the word greed here? As a matter of fact I have not used that word since ever - I had to look into my dictionary to cheack the meaning of "greed". I only have used this word, (...)   Re: Greed?

(...) Yes, perhaps it is. Ben is E2L(1), please keep that in mind, and sometimes that causes misunderstanding. Reading over your words and his, I don't find that much disagreement, believe it or not.   Re: Greed?

(...) Nah, I could easily see myself buying one for the sheer desire to actually get my hands on something so phenominal I never had a chance to acquire. I think desire is a better word. (...)   Greed?

(...) Greed? GREED?? G R E E D?!?!?! Whoa… maybe you look @ the hobby in a different manner that I. But ‘Greed’ isn’t a term I'd apply to my ‘yearning’ for a 375. ~Perhaps your word usage is flawed?   Fun with conspiracy theory.

A list I get mail from was having a little fun with this site, some of the listers were rather amused at the whole presumptuousness of making airplanes disappear. I have no idea what to think, myself, but found it interesting reading. You might too. (...) (22 years ago, 14-Apr-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Hotel Recommendations

I posted this first in legoland.california, but realised there doesn't seem to be much traffic there. So thought I would try my luck here too. Coming to California this summer.   Re: Conflict in the Middle East

(...) The fact that these attacks are suicide attacks is irrelevant. The issue is the deliberate and unjustifiable killing of civilians. (...) What do padres promise your country’s troops as they go into battle? Hell and damnation? I think not! (...) (23 years ago, 8-Apr-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Conflict in the Middle East

(...) What exactly are these warriors promised from the afterlife? How is their belief about the ultimate sacrifice different than our own? Many Americans have made suicidal attacks "in the line of honor." How and why is it different? I think that (...) (23 years ago, 8-Apr-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: The value of reading (was: If you could leave any book on Kjeld's nightstand...)

(...) Hmmm...I think these are all very closely related ideas. Yes, debate has a specific meaning -- but classically, formal arguments are comprised of appeals to ethos, pathos, and logos. To use non-greek terms, a formal argument appeals to one's (...) (23 years ago, 7-Apr-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: The value of reading (was: If you could leave any book on Kjeld's nightstand...)
