  Re: Rolling Blackouts

(...) At the end of the article you pointed us to they suggest leasing or buying the land...so why not? This one seems kind of easy. Everyone who wants to protect the monarchs bucks up a little bit and buys the 14 (or whatever) sites where they (...) (23 years ago, 28-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Rolling Blackouts

I started twitching spastically 2/3 of the way through this. Scott, in ten years on the net, actively participating in conversations with all kinds of people with all kinds of beliefs, from all over the world, I have never, ever, met anyone as (...)   Re: Rolling Blackouts

(...) Not my point - but never mind. (...) A good start Larry, but I do doubt your notion free marketeers do not break laws. Further, what gives them the right to decide laws are "unjust"? (...) You should make yourself clear then Larry. Deliberate (...) (23 years ago, 28-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: A Jeffers factoid or two

(...) They are saying that there ought to be a difference between the parties? What a novel idea! :-) (...) It's a chicken or egg problem, I suspect. And the dirty politics internal to the LP don't help matters either. (23 years ago, 27-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: A Jeffers factoid or two

(...) Our paper had an editorial yesterday which lambasted Jeffers for doing this. The author felt that it was important for the Rebublican party to have liberals and the Democratic party to have conservatives, to the point that independants weaken (...)   Re: Rolling Blackouts

(...) Explain the tragedy of the commons? Your cite referenced it, I assumed you are familiar with it. (...) Explain the notion that a person engaged in stealing is not a free marketeer? Seems obvious to me. Maybe you're not as familiar with (...) (23 years ago, 26-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  A Jeffers factoid or two

Vermont now has 2 out of 3 of their national level representatives as "independents" since Bernie Sanders is badged that way (although he ran as a socialist). This is the From IBD: "[T]he most underappreciated political phenomenon of the last two (...) (23 years ago, 26-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: M6 Crash

(...) Well, it depends on the cargo. A few years back, a fuel truck crashed on I-95 and I think it was a couple days before they had that section of the road open again. If the accident caused serious property loss, I don't begrudge a certain amount (...) (23 years ago, 24-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  M6 Crash

A lorry crashed on the M6 motorway (freeway is U.S parlance) in the early hours of this mourning, It said on the news that it cost business millions of pounds due to the enourmous delays. Why does it take 8 hours to re-open a motorway? That's a (...) (23 years ago, 24-May-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, lugnet.loc.uk)

  Re: Rolling Blackouts

(...) What is that supposed to mean, exactly? I've been here all along and have been quite aware of this class of problem inasmuch as it points out a major failing in the concept of public ownership.
