  MOC: Apocryphal Blacktron Freudenshadow Racer

Tony Hafner has presented his very cool (URL) Outcast Racer>, for which much praise is due. Very nice work, Tony! Seeing this fine craft, I was inspired to try something similar, adding my own (I hope) distinctive style. Please let me know what you (...)   Re: Lego Company chooses poorly? (was re: Shifty set)

(...) Indeed. Although a headline like "Rich Multinational Toy Company Gives Poor Finnish Children Second Rate Building Bricks for Christmas" could hardly appeal to Lego... Cheers Richie Dulin (20 years ago, 25-Nov-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, lugnet.general, lugnet.mediawatch, FTX)

Re: Lego Company chooses poorly? (was re: Shifty set)

(...) Are you willing to vouch for the safety of each of those fake sets? Were LEGO to have given the o.k. to give away the illegal sets they (the LEGO company) would have, at least in principle, been giving their assurance that the sets are safe to (...)   Lego Company chooses poorly? (was re: Shifty set)

(...) charity, presumeably for distribution to the poor. I read between the lines that this is Finnish law, that siezed illegal goods can be destroyed or given to charity.   Re: Shifty set

(...) I am not sure what either "blatant" nor "jeers" mean, but when reading the Danish and the English version, I would have translated this way: ....all are Slavic copies of Lego.... I asume blatant is something else. Sonnich (...) (20 years ago, 24-Nov-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, lugnet.general, lugnet.mediawatch)

  Re: Never-released LOTR Intelli-Blox sets?

(...) I think I was unclear in my wording. The Mines of Moria set was indeed released, and eventually I was lucky enough to find one on deep discount at KB toys. The instructions included in that set gave the description of the phrases uttered by (...) (20 years ago, 23-Nov-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Re: Never-released LOTR Intelli-Blox sets?

(...) Out of curiosity, I just searched for Intelli-Blox on eBay and the Mines of Moria set does turn up! But you're right - this whole series of toy was poorly marketed - I never saw it in stores! -Bryan (20 years ago, 23-Nov-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Re: Never-released LOTR Intelli-Blox sets?

(...) That's really a shame, IMO. Sure, the series wasn't as well-conceived as it might have been, but there was a lot of good in it, too. I love love love the statuary from Battle at Weathertop, and the gargoyle-ish pieces from Orc Attack at Amon (...) (20 years ago, 23-Nov-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Re: Never-released LOTR Intelli-Blox sets?

The Basic Block Bucket was even listed on Marz Distribution three years ago. The total number of sets touted at Toy Fair was larger than what was released. (20 years ago, 23-Nov-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  Re: New Dragons Sets

<snip> (...) Maybe, maybe not. I think I'd like to find out for certain though. At least as far as the Vorgon Stronghold goes (even if it's like the U.S. version (i.e. "normal," I wouldn't mind a second copy of the set; very nice BURP-like pieces.) (...)   Never-released LOTR Intelli-Blox sets?

While searching the Internet for clone-brand info, I came upon a mention of other Lord of the Rings sets that apparently never saw release. After the disappointing performance of this product line, it's no surprise that the whole series was (...) (20 years ago, 22-Nov-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Clone brand review - Diablock

(...) Whoops! Good call--I didn't stop to think that the set might have originated other than in the United States. Stupid Americentrism. My apologies to all who aren't enslaved to the US-version of the dollar. Dave! (20 years ago, 22-Nov-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Clone brand review - Diablock

(...) Assuming it's a "dollar" amount from the "$" sign, I can find 8 different "dollars" (really more like 7 since the Bermuda Dollar appears to be based on the US Dollar): US Cost | Country ===...=== 00.70 | New Taiwan 02.96 | Hong Kong 13.97 | (...)   Re: New Dragons Sets

(...) Yeah, I've wondered about that. All I know is that those pictures have been up for quite a while, so maybe they date from before the sets' release and are actually just "promotional" images, possibly subject to change? (...) I'm thinking that (...) (20 years ago, 22-Nov-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Clone brand review - Diablock

(...) Twenty-three dollars? Is that correct? That's quite a price tag for such a small set. Thanks for sharing these pictures. I'd never even heard of this brand before, though they look similar to ATCO. Dave! (20 years ago, 22-Nov-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

  Clone brand review - Diablock

For those who have never seen this brand in person, I managed to obtain 3 small sets today and have posted a picture-heavy review of one of them on my forum (URL) here>. Please take a look if you are interested. Here is a picture of one of the sets: (...) (20 years ago, 21-Nov-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

  Re: New Dragons Sets

<snip> (...) Wow! Apparently the UK gets a differant selection of sets and what's actually in them. Just looking at the version shown for 9891 "Vorgan Stronghold" I don't recognize anything about that set from what I have... Ok, if you don't count (...) (...) why I never mentioned them before. This site: (URL) has info on them. Do a search for "bloks" and you'll get a nice listing of these and other sets.   Re: New Dragons Sets

<snip> (...) Yes I do... the 4 new ones that you reported on, 9858 (Dragon Mountain), and 9887 (Fire Storm Fortress). All the others I either have on-hand or on-order, (AFAIK). That would be 7 dragons from all 6 of the sets I don't have yet. (...) (20 years ago, 19-Nov-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)
