    Let's define what an auction announcement/update is —Todd Lehman
   New thread here...on the coattails of a controversial thread in .admin.general and in response to Frank Filz's post: (URL) define (as best we can) what constitutes an auction announcement or update. Then we can link to that definition from the Terms (...) (25 years ago, 14-Feb-00, to lugnet.market.theory, lugnet.faq, lugnet.general, lugnet.admin.general)

     OK, I don't participate in much auctions... But I was wondering about Buy-sell-trade annoucements. Is it OK to post a b-s-t announcement in the appropriate group? For example, I want to trade a Belville set but I realize the chances to find someone (...) (25 years ago, 15-Feb-00, to lugnet.market.theory, lugnet.faq)

      (...) fundamental (...) are (...) Sealed bid auctions : I may be the only person that does this : if you mail the seller and ask what the best bid is to date (I did it once) they tell you.       (...) Yeah, good point. Once someone does do that, then their auction is no longer a sealed-bid auction, which means that (especially if they go out soliciting higher bids) it definitely doesn't belong in .buy-sell-trade in that case.      One comment... In the classic sense, a 'sealed-bid auction' is exactly that. The bids are all sealed until a specific time. Depending on the auction and the rules, the bidders may or may not be present when the bids are 'opened'. Auctions which we (...) (25 years ago, 16-Feb-00, to lugnet.market.theory)
