Dutch Auctions on Ebay.... Has anyone any advice? —Scott Arthur
I have multiple copies of a single (large) set. I am contemplating a Dutch auction on ebay. Has anyone any advice? Scott A (25 years ago, 14-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.theory)

(...) Well of course if its a large, rare or uncommon, set, the way to best money is to leak them out slowly. If you do dump a bunch at once, doing a dutch auction will probably make your bidders most happy (because if you only want one, you just (...) (25 years ago, 14-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.theory)

(...) The auction would be for 8880's The plan was to catch a buyer who wants more than 1, as the shipping cost per unit drops sharply at these sorts of weights: 1 -39.35($) 2 -30.65 3 -27.36 4 -25.43 5 -24.17 6 -23.33 7 -22.73 The problem is (...)      (...) After much experimenting, I have decided recently to start +everything+ at 1.00. I beleive that overall that gives me the best return and it gives bidders a fair chance to get a bargain once in a while (like the guy who won four cannon (...)      (...) I normally start low too : $0.25 and NR. But this can lead to a high number of bidders - which can discourage people too. The problem for me is if I do "go Dutch" with a 7 x 8880 auction, with a starting price of $1, it will take a lot of bids (...) (25 years ago, 14-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.theory)

(...) Really? I thought it was the other way round - seeing something really popular (lots of bids, maybe the eBay "hot" icon) people tend to go take a look and see what's so great - which increases the likelihood they will bid (since they gotta (...)      If i see an item has more than 10 bids or so, I tend to think its reached its value (or exceeded it). Kevin Wilson <70641.507@compuserve.com> wrote in message <38068DF3.C109602A@c...ve.com>... (...) (25 years ago, 15-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.theory)

The only way to do it. Unless you relly want to get the best possible price on each, then you should sell 1 a month in seperate auctions. I'm currently bidding in two dutch auctions, and they really are great. It's pretty easy on ebay too. Pat J (...) (25 years ago, 14-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.theory)
