Really?  I thought it was the other way round - seeing something really
popular (lots of bids, maybe the eBay "hot" icon) people tend to go take
a look and see what's so great - which increases the likelihood they
will bid (since they gotta look at it first before they can bid).

The problem for me is if I do "go Dutch" with a 7 x 8880 auction, with a starting price of $1, it will take a lot of bids (...) (25 years ago, 14-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.theory)
