Indeed. Ever play "whackamole"?? Push one thing down and something else pops
up. All MTW designs are a carefully balanced tradeoff between the ultimate
and the doable.
Both MTW-3001 and 3002 are, in large part, the colors they are because those
colors are the best balance of availability. (the trade off for doing 3002
in blue was having to scrape up blue shutters, but red train doors would
have been way harder... black was too boring... trade offs, trade offs)
But MTW 2001 is multicolor so instead of altering colors I alter bits of the
design. The windows are too fundamental, though and have to be obtained in
several colors.

There's N and there's not N. As Dan says, my U1 and yours differ.

I don't want to out anybody.
I'm meek and not real keen on annoying other people, you know. I am working
with one seller right now to resolve things and I'm sure it will work out.
By and large, BrickBay sellers are very good (way better on average than
eBay). I just want to improve presale information.
