Re: How *not* to use Buy It Now —Larry Pieniazek
(...) fair enough! I *am* interested in ways to effectively use Buy it Now (although don't want to get TOO carried away until we know if it's a keeper feature or not) (24 years ago, 22-Nov-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: How *not* to use Buy It Now —Sheree Rosenkrantz
(...) Well, here is one that worked for the buyer. Sure wish I had seen it and I were that buyer... (URL) is not initially shown is that the item bidding was to start at $14.99. This can be seen only on a lego* dacta* search list and the bid (...) (24 years ago, 22-Nov-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

        eBay Craziness —Roy Wood
While we're discussing eBay, can someone explain to me why it is that people are willing to pay retail or more (not even taking into account shipping!) for Lego items that are currently available in-stores or even on-line? I just don't get it. Are (...) (24 years ago, 23-Nov-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

        Re: eBay Craziness —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Perennial topic. Your guesses are indeed the accepted wisdom as to why, at that level of analysis. I used to try to do something about it, but I gave up. People don't know what's available, and sellers take advantage of it. If they're too lazy (...) (24 years ago, 23-Nov-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

        Re: eBay Craziness —Scott Arthur
(...) I sold opened arctic sets a few weeks ago which did return more than I paid (although I did get them cheap). When I listed them, I thought they'd only go for pennies to a UK buyer (low shipping). However, it transpired that the sets I listed (...) (24 years ago, 23-Nov-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

        Re: eBay Craziness —Larry Pieniazek
(...) If you were being sarcastic, you left off a smiley. If you weren't, I resent the implication, which is false. It so happens that it is significantly easier to get a current reference than an expired one, so you can accuse me of laziness, but (...) (24 years ago, 23-Nov-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

        Re: eBay Craziness —Scott Arthur
(...) Put it this way Larry, I would not do it. (...) I accept it may well be easier for you. I don't accept you had to post the link to start with. (...) Not with me I don't think. What was the outcome? Scott A (...) (24 years ago, 23-Nov-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

        Re: eBay Craziness —Shiri Dori
Scott, Larry, Come on, you two. Sometimes I get the feeling that you are no more mature than a couple of two-year-olds. I mean, honestly. Do you have to get at it every time you get into discussion? If you really think it's necessary, take it to (...) (24 years ago, 23-Nov-00, to lugnet.market.theory, lugnet.off-topic.debate)
