  So what would you do?

Ok, here's a not-so-hypothetical situation for you... You see a lot on ebay-- 3 sets, all 100% complete, with the exception of 4 pieces, and 1 substituted piece. You bid. You win. You get the sets. problem. 24 pieces are missing (out of 852). Some (...) (24 years ago, 23-Oct-00, to lugnet.market.theory, lugnet.market.auction)

Re: So what would you do?

(...) This happened to me recently. Although it was a hassle, I realize that mistakes do happen, and if the seller is willing to right their wrongs then it's worth giving them positive feedback. Anybody can sell you stuff, but someone who admits (...) (24 years ago, 23-Oct-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: So what would you do?

(...) Factor in if you thought you got a 'good price' or if you paid more than you originally intended. Were these sellers who were selling their own sets or sets they had bought. Had these sets had the Tyco subbed before the seller got their hands (...) (24 years ago, 23-Oct-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: So what would you do?

Depends on how much you spent. My answer is if it was above 200 dollars and no solution was given by seller I use my Anti-Ebayer Equipment; (A plane ticket and a Shotgun) Works every time. 8) ;) Wayne (...) (24 years ago, 23-Oct-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: So what would you do?

(...) And that, IMHO, is why eBay feedback has degenerated to be basically worthless... You're held hostage to your own good name if you don't post something good first. As far as I am concerned the seller should post first anyway since the seller's (...) (24 years ago, 23-Oct-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: So what would you do?

(...) Seriously, have you actually done this before? The thought has crossed my mind, I admit, to pay a visit to people a bit behind, but I'd never try taking a shotgun on a plane. One time I did a very big eBay purchase from a seller I didn't trust (...) (24 years ago, 23-Oct-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: So what would you do?

(...) Dave, If you leave a negative you will almost certainly get one in return. Now, You need to realize, as I'm sure you do, that you are dealing with the general public. Most people do not share our love and passion for the brick. It could just be (...) (24 years ago, 23-Oct-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: So what would you do?

(...) I recently saw someone who had tried to use html in a comment and it came out as just text. You could always type a url as text and let anyone who really wants copy/paste it. Not sure how many people would bother. I find that more often than (...) (24 years ago, 23-Oct-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: So what would you do?

(...) Yep. That's another issue. As Lar mentioned, this really isn't fair since as far as the seller is concerned, my participation was fine... That's part of the curse of feedback. It also borders on going against the Ebay terms of use since they (...) (24 years ago, 23-Oct-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: So what would you do?

(...) I'm not sure how a better system could be created. What we can work to do is create a better system within the constraints. I basically always give positive feedback if I get the goods. I have only ever been stiffed once, and really have not (...) (24 years ago, 23-Oct-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: So what would you do?

(...) You might want to reflect on the above. Is it really fair to demand a seller NEVER fail to notice a clone brick? I've sorted many used parts lots, carefully looking for non-LEGO bricks, only to weeks later discover a non-LEGO brick hiding in (...) (24 years ago, 23-Oct-00, to lugnet.market.theory)
