Cary,

Do it. I'm perfectly comfortable with services that give me the option
of keeping my credit card number on file. Just make it an option, and
make that you're doing it very well disclosed.

I have to play around with it a little. I am finishing up the hard part,
getting everything working right. I have used it a number of times just
testing it with my credit cards. I never had a problem with any sites I have
used it before, either.

Actually, I find it difficult to believe that any business that accepts
credit cards does not keep a copy of the number for their own records.
And, the risk of credit card theft via the Internet is far less than
through ordinary retail usage. Even if the theft does happen, my credit
cards limit my liability to $50 at most, and $0 at best.

I use a secondary process, called Signio.net. They handle a lot of these
issues. I basically get a deposit in my account from the credit card.

But my question is why? It looks like PayPal allow you to accept credit
card charges at no cost. Is there some disadvantage to using PayPal
instead? Is your credit card transaction equally cost-less?

It was part of my shopping cart package, and it is easier and faster. It
also is faster to process, and it goes right into my accounts, rather than
transferring back and forth. I give the option to use paypal if you want,
but direct credit card processing is easier for me, anyway. It was one of
the things I was requiring when shopping for a shopping cart program. And no
credit card transactions are costless, but that is another story! : ) Thanks
for your input!
