I think the biggest argument why snipers are bad for the seller have
been along the lines that people would like to see the auctions keep
going until no bids have been received for x amount of time. The fact
that the auctions on eBay are fixed ending times seem to be the gripe
sellers have. Who knows how much higher the bids would have gone if the
bidders could have kept bidding, possibly getting caught up in the
moment, and bid like crazy. The way it is now, boom! times up/moment
over.
Why someone would want to discourage last day bidding, I do not know.
