Wal-Mart shopping frustration —Scott E. Thomas
I'm upset with Wal-Mart and their "we don't sell merchandise the computer says not too" rule. Tonight after work, I stopped by to pick up a few items and check on the Lego clearance shelves. I got lucky as they had been marked down again. There (...) (22 years ago, 5-Mar-02, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Hi Scott... I live in Brisbane, Australia and we (the BUGS group) encounted the same problem just before Christmas last year. We went to K-Mart in Cleveland (yeah one here too :P). I think we saw 5 on the shelf sitting their waiting for someone to (...) (22 years ago, 5-Mar-02, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: Wal-Mart shopping frustration —Richard Morton
I had a similar thing a few months ago in a Wisconsin Walmart, however I was able to get mine. Basically, I had bought a whole series of clearance Lego and as there were long lines at the checkouts, I decided to use the self scanning lane. I scanned (...)         Re: Wal-Mart shopping frustration —Troy Cefaratti
While I can certainly understand your frustration, I'd think this is probably a safety mechanism and a good policy for them to have. Most items that are recalled are usually recalled for safety or quality issues. Imagine the backlash if a store were (...) (22 years ago, 5-Mar-02, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: Wal-Mart shopping frustration —Scott E. Thomas
One of the superior ladies pointed out an incident with a recalled toaster that she sold. The set was taken off the shelves some time ago and finally reappeared. I don't think Lego would take the time now to repackage that set and ship it back to (...) (22 years ago, 5-Mar-02, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: Wal-Mart shopping frustration —Tom Reed
Scott, I had a similar thing happen to me, but the manager overrode the price and allowed me to buy it anyway. I know it's frustrating that all Walmarts don't follow the same policies, but sometimes it's to our advantage. Better luck next time! By (...) (22 years ago, 5-Mar-02, to lugnet.market.shopping)

(...) Yeah, if Brad could convince someone to repack them in a generic white box (with '6776' in large letters), toss the comic book, and price the innards at $25, I think the AFOLs would buy out the entire offering in less than a week.         Re: Wal-Mart shopping frustration —Scott Costello
A point you have missed is that Wal-Mart problably paid over $30 for that set in the first place. If they sell it to you for $20 - $30 they will be losing money, however if they return it to TLC under a recall then they will get back the full (...)         Re: Wal-Mart shopping frustration —Scott E. Thomas
I need to find the manager there who will bend the rules to make me happy, because Wal-Mart is not going to get tore up losing $10 on a clearance item. They wanted to get rid of it, that's why it was on clearance. I was doing them a favor by trying (...) (22 years ago, 5-Mar-02, to lugnet.market.shopping)
