Hi, I went to Toys R Us before and saw that there were 2 Railway Express
(4561) train sets left (both at normal prices $139.00 each). What caught my
eye was that one had a tear in the box, and looked as if someone tried to
get at some pieces in the box- but everything looked to be intact in the
box. My question is, Does Toys R Us give discounts for opened or tampered
products?

As I recall several people in our area (New England) tried getting discounts on damaged sets after learning that the Lego Outlet struck off a whopping 50% for even simply dented sets. | Hi, I tried to get a discount for a very shelf worn 7191 X Wing once with a ripped box. When I took it to the service desk at TRU and asked for a discount they looked at me like I was from Mars...I then took it back to its place on the shelf and (...) | (...) From my experience, TRU is downright obnoxious when you make inqiries about discounts - even when a set is obviously missing items. I've actually seen managers reseal boxes missing items and replace them on the shelf after I've turned down an (...) (22 years ago, 23-Jan-02, to lugnet.market.shopping)
