We're pleased to announce a new feature on LUGNET: an online shopping report tool to help you find LEGO sets at online retailers quickly and easily: (URL) and Enjoy! --Todd & Suz (24 years ago, 4-Sep-00, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.announce) !!

Re: Announcing the Brickwise™ Shopping Report —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Cool. Very cool indeed. Congrats! All the retailers seem to be US based, though? (just trying to beat some non US to the punch... (what can I say, I'm in Oz, whinging is a national pastime here!)) So can you talk about the technology behind (...)          Re: Announcing the Brickwise[tm] Shopping Report —Todd Lehman
(...) For now, ya, that was the easiest first step. The main reason not to include non-U.S.-based retailers here for now was currency conversion issues. (...) Let's just say that two eight packs of Guinness played an important role and that it is (...) (24 years ago, 4-Sep-00, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.market.theory)

Re: Announcing the Brickwise[tm] Shopping Report —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Do you see yourself adding arbitrary numbers of retailers? The way you did it there's lots of real estate to do that. Some disclaimers about how it's arbitrary/whim driven which ones you include to preclude any retailer originated whinging (...) (24 years ago, 4-Sep-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: Announcing the Brickwise[tm] Shopping Report —Todd Lehman
(...) Personally, I'd love to see lots of colors too...but would want to test that out on various types of colorblindness first. Might not be a problem to use shapes in combination with reds. BTW, if you could see the difference between 50% and 75% (...) (24 years ago, 6-Sep-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: Announcing the Brickwise[tm] Shopping Report —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Yes. Well, maybe. Certainly the number of sets bought and usually the absolute amount as well ++Lar (24 years ago, 10-Sep-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: Announcing the Brickwise™ Shopping Report —Derick Bulkley
Brief critique: 1) Need a legend for the colors. 2) Some of the colors are too close in value to be distictive. That said, a welcome addition. Derick (...) (24 years ago, 4-Sep-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: Announcing the BrickwiseT Shopping Report —Rob Doucette
     "Derick Bulkley" <Derick@derick.com> wrote in message news:G0Dy3E.6A2@lugnet.com... (...) I'd assume the websafe reds would be good (330000, 660000, 990000, CC0000, FF0000) + black (000000). Cool Tool. -Rob. (24 years ago, 6-Sep-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: Announcing the Brickwise™ Shopping Report —Steve Bliss
(...) This is so incredible. What would previously have taken hours to research, all lego-shoppers will now be able to see at a glance. Just amazing. Some questions: 1. Is it realtime? b/w How frequently is it updated? 2. Is it accurate? I've never (...) (24 years ago, 5-Sep-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: Announcing the Brickwise™ Shopping Report —Todd Lehman
(...) We'll probably make it update once per day or so. (...) We figured out a way around that. :) (...) You bet! --Todd (24 years ago, 6-Sep-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: Announcing the Brickwise™ Shopping Report —Eric Kingsley
(...) Todd, Just wondering if this was set up and if so does it run consistantly at the same time each day? Or is this something you run manually. I just went to look at the 50% off SW sale at e-Toys and it looks like its over but the Brickwise (...) (24 years ago, 22-Sep-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: Announcing the Brickwise™ Shopping Report —Todd Lehman
(...) It's still something I run manually once a day, but not at any specific time. Although it would be very easy to make it run automatically at a specific time (or times) of the day, I still don't trust it 100% (because if a retailer's site does (...)         Re: Announcing the Brickwise™ Shopping Report —Steve Chapple
(...) Very nice. Two comments - This supercedes (URL) ??? IMO you should use more distinct colors than various shades of red. Perhaps yellow could indicate >75% off, red could indicate 50% to 75%, and cyan could be 25% to 49%. (Leave black for (...) (24 years ago, 5-Sep-00, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: Announcing the Brickwise[tm] Shopping Report —Todd Lehman
(...) No, that is an independent resource not related to LUGNET. (...) Maybe, but the blocks of color aren't really meant as a hard guide -- the shades of red just mean "attention" -- any more info than that is trying to pack too much into a tiny (...)          Re: Announcing the Brickwise[tm] Shopping Report —Brian H. Nielsen
(...) An alternative to colors or shapes would be to use images of box outlines that are proportionally filled based on the percentages.
