My local Zany Brainy had nine 4565 Trains and around 15-20 8480 Shuttles left
yesterday.  Wish I could afford to buy them all, but my wife already grimaced
when I brought home two loads of shopping bags.

  Prices (tax already factored in):

  4565:  $85.27
  8480:  $47.97

Why are these prices so good?  It my local ZB the 4565 (pretax) is
$100ish and the 8480 is $75ish.  They also had a sign up saying 20% off
any one LEGO set but they wouldn't apply that to the sale prices.  (Even
though neither the sale ad nor the signage said that they couldn't be
combined with other deals.)

Well, that particular ZB WAS applying the 20% WITH the sale price.  Note I said
WITH, not ON the sale price - they added 20% to the 50% off on the 8480, giving 70%
off, rather than taking 50% off, then 20% off that - so you save a lot more.

This is the Zany Brainy in Independence, Missouri which can be contacted at
(816) 795-0522.  If you speak with the manager, please mention my name.

Hmm...I'll be in Missouri over Xmas, maybe a 3-hr detour would be OK...

Call them - NOW.  Otherwise, I doubt they'll have any soon, even though they are
limiting it to ONE set per person at that price.

I love being able to order over the phone - my local ZB doesn't even have the 8480
on sale anymore, so it would be well over $100 with the 20% off.

(...) Thanks Tom (and Mike), I needed a kick in the butt to call and you provided it. The ZB person seemed annoyed at whomever spread their phone number around so I chose not to mention Andreas. She said "I've even had people from Canada (...) (25 years ago, 20-Dec-99, to lugnet.market.shopping)
