US: Kroger - 4400 and 5230 (not sure the details)¬ ...
I bought two 4400 at my local Kroger signature store last week.  $9.99 each.
700 parts, extra parts do not match Peeron's inventory.

...
My Kroger (Durham, NC) has a palette for $14.99 (same price with or without a
Kroger card)

Like Anthony said, the 300 extra parts are pretty different from the earlier mix
when the 4400 was available from S@H and Boscov's. The current 4400 is very much
like the mix in the 4679 bonus box, except there's more likely to be right
wedges to go with the left ones, and maybe a little more variety if that's
possible. And like the 4679s I've gotten, the regular and bonus bricks are
mostly old grays.

I addition to the 4679-like mix (e.g., minifig heads) I got a large white burp,
3 1x14 technic beams, 1x8 dark red 45 slopes, ...

I got three new (to me) brick colors in the bonus mix, including 2 1x2 dark
green bricks. Thanks to the 4400 and the 4679, I can now make a 2x4 brick out of
51 different colors -- and that's without trying to collect different colors.
For instance, I haven't gotten any of the new brown yet.

Hi Guys,
I don't know why you are finding them for $14.99.  I bought one today for $9.99
like Anthony reported.  I wonder why there's a difference in price?  That
doesn't make sense!  Anthony and I are both in Texas, but I can't see there
being any difference state to state!
In my tub, I got an assortment that sounds a lot like what Cary described.
There was a interesting assortment of colors.  I counted 8 different 2x4 bricks,
each with a different non standard color in this one tub.  There were 8 bags of
parts that were special in this tub.  I also got 2 minifig heads in transparent
yellow and one in transparent flourescent green as well as 10 in black and one
in some wierd flesh color.  I got 2 of the large sand green Harry Potter roof
peaks.  There was two 1x2x2 bricks with the notched corner slope in them (one
black and one grey).  I got a 3 pronged flower part in brown (I've never seen it
in that color before).  I got the one piece stair part in brown like was used in
"Escape from Privot Drive".  There were two grey 6x12 wing plates as well as the
white burp and stuff Cary mentioned above.  All in all, I think this selection
is a better value for the money than the 4562 box is mainly due to the larger
type of parts.  When this Spring Cleaning buy out is finished, I expect to have
a quite a collection of parts in the oddest colors!
This is fun!
Tom

(...) I've not found any of these in the Indianapolis area which is overflowing with Kroger Stores. Does anyone know if this is only a regional release, and if so, what will those regions be? Thanks, Brian Darrow (20 years ago, 3-Nov-04, to lugnet.market.shopping)
