I have hit two Targets in the past two days. The clearance aisles were not
packed with Lego as I had hoped.

What have you found?

Picked up the following for 30% off:

7468  Saturn V Moon Mission
3536  Snowboard Big Air Comp

Also, Zany Brainy is closing stores.  Historically, their prices were inflated,
but I picked this up at 30% of the un-inflated retail price of $50:

4513  Grand Central Station

Wal-Mart and Target told the news services that gift card sales were very high
this year. The report indicated that gift card revenue does not count towards
actual sales figures for the Christmas season so Wal-Mart indicated sales
increases for this season were lower than compared to last year. The report also
described that market research showed that people who use gift cards would spend
money in excess of the gift card amount, so the retailers may not discount
merchandise until after the first of January.

The other situation working against huge discounts is retailers limited their
inventory for the Christmas season this year. At first I thought the news report
was just smoke until I went in to my local WM before Christmas and realized
there was very little product on the shelves. The variety was limited and
quantities smaller, but nothing seemed to have sold out as in years past. Lego
shelf space was smaller than last year and choices of sets pretty small in the
Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and Target stores in my area.

I have been to Target and Wal-Mart stores in Nashville and found practically
nothing on sale.

The only sales seem to be TRU lowering prices on randon older stock and KB's
continually haphazard Star Wars sales. The TRU discounts are hit or miss with
Arctic sets full price but the re-released pirate sets on discount. Some older
Star Wars sets are still full price even though some of the newer sets are on
discount.
