Thoughts on Brickbay fees (Re: Brickbay problems........again) —Ray Sanders
This thread is a month old, but I've had a few thoughts on the subject and believe its a good time to toss them up for discussion. I will start off by saying that the current fee of 2% of sales is a legitimate and valid fee and should not be (...) (23 years ago, 30-Jun-01, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

(...) Good idea, I hope many fellow sellers/buyers join this discussion (...) Agreed, 2% seems fair (...) I think a shop opening fee is reasonable. It should not prevent a serious seller that has something to offer to join Brickbay, but it may deter (...) (23 years ago, 30-Jun-01, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

(...) <snip some thought provoking ideas... which I think are good starting points for discussion> (...) I agree with your thinking here. (...) I agree, this is a very serious problem. Here is a thought starter, not sure it's necessarily a good idea (...) (23 years ago, 30-Jun-01, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

(...) I don't think you CAN filter out the bogus buyers.... there will always be some idiot trying to mess things up for other people, unfortunately. We, IMHO, just need to deal with them case-by-case. (23 years ago, 1-Jul-01, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

Re: Thoughts on Brickbay fees (Re: Brickbay problems........again) —Dan Jezek
(...) I'm going to send out an e-mail survey to the top ~30 Brickbay sellers how it would affect them if the fee was raised from 2% to 3%. The proceeds from that would go to fund a relocation to a better more reliable server which would have better (...) (23 years ago, 1-Jul-01, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

Re: Thoughts on Brickbay fees (Re: Brickbay problems........again) —Jan-Albert van Ree
(...) That MIGHT work, although some people might stop listing small batches of parts because it makes the profit margin even smaller. (...) 2a seems VERY unfair to certain sellers. If a seller had some very rare parts, priced "fair" he might still (...) (23 years ago, 1-Jul-01, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

Re: Thoughts on Brickbay fees (Re: Brickbay problems........again) —Ray Sanders
(...) Every lot listed on Brickbay consumes resources. Those resources might be bandwidth, disk space, etc. If someone has two 'Yellow 1 x 2 Brick's listed, the odds are small that those would be desirable parts. They have an intrinsic value that is (...) (23 years ago, 1-Jul-01, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

Re: Thoughts on Brickbay fees (Re: Brickbay problems........again) —Paul Janssen
(...) I've commented on this before, but want to bring it up in the context of the point raised above. Suppose you have 800 yellow 1x2 bricks listed, and a buyer buys all but a few, lets say 798, (this stuff does happen, and often) then you only (...)    In lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade, Paul Janssen writes: <snip> (...) (IMHO) There are several schools of thought on this topic. One way of looking at it is that the sale of the 798 should carry/cover the cost of keeping the remaining stock listed (...) (23 years ago, 2-Jul-01, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)
