There's nothing like men of principle and then there are those who

Nice cheap shot.

Thank-you.

As much as I don't like eBay

Now that wasn't hard, was it. Now all you have to do is put your money
where your mouth is.

or the scalping tactics of some of the
sellers on there (ok, a lot of the sellers on there)

True.

there are plenty
of decent people who use it to sell things simply because they want to
get the best price for their stuff.

I agree (not), if you can't beat'em join'em.

Is that really any of your business?

If it moves auctions from rtl to the dreaded ebay or changes the mix of
information and auctions on rtl that attracted me to this news group, it
most definitely is.

If not, what the hell difference
does it make to you?

If you're just trying to maximize profits, you will never understand.

I'm selling some stuff on eBay right now.

Now why doesn't that surprise, you decent person.

Seriously considering
putting some more stuff up for sale there for one reason and one
reason alone. I'll probably make more money if I do because my items

will be exposed to about a thousand times more bidders than any

auction I run myself on Lugnet, RTL, SeriousCollector, or my own site.

Now I wonder why that is the case?

Why should I settle for selling parts for a dime apiece in a
low-exposure auction if I have a chance of selling them for fifty
cents apiece on eBay?  I don't know about you, but selling off the
parts I don't want is how I support my hobby, and if making more money
is possible on eBay, well, that just means I get to spend more on the
stuff I like.

And again, is that really any of your business?

I'm sick of decent people bad mouthing ebay then turning around and using
it.

Just call me a diehard rtl supporter and possibly Lugnet its growing on me
but auctions seem to be drying up on it also.

Mark H.

(...) I've responded to this, especially this sarcastic personal attack, via e-mail. I don't see any point in continuing this type of discussion, but if there is one I think it ought to be continued in .theory. I could be wrong. (26 years ago, 15-May-99, to lugnet.market.auction)
