Hi Kyle,

I've been doing sort of the same thing (manually) for a set I'm thinking
about putting on (U.S.) eBay and here's what I've found.  If you search
the item under "Completed Auctions", it appears you get a listing of
what sold for the past three weeks and the final price.  But if you
search a particular seller's completed auctions, it lists what they've
sold in the past four weeks (gee, Mike, how many 4565's did you manage
to pick up?!).  After that amount of time I believe the item drops off
their database. (The only thing is, I thought you have sixty days to
leave feedback regarding an item-- maybe it is only thirty.)

HTH!

G'day folks,

For a while I have been following auctions on ebaY and recording the
sale prices into a database for sets that I am interested in.  From
this I have a reasonable reference for what some going market values
are.

The reason I've been doing this is ebaY does not seem to have a
way of searching for auctions after they close.  This seems
pretty dumb, so I assume it's just because I can't find the
way to do it.  I mostly use www.ca.ebay.com (ebaY Canada) so
maybe there's a difference in site functionality.  Anyhow, is
there a way to search for closed auction results?  If so, for
how long are the results available?  If this exists for a
decent period, like 6 months or something, then I can stop
spending time maintaining this silly database.

Out of curiousity, has anyone else been maintaining a market
value "database" like this?  Is there one already publicly
available on the net?

Thanx,
KDJ

You can comment (leave feedback) on auctions up to 60 days past auction close. The completed auction searches, bidder/seller searches, and auction pages are supposed to go back 30 days, as is the tracking info in MyeBay. You can also access some (...) (...) The 'completed auctions' thing might only work on ebay.com. for example, ebay.co.uk does NOT have this function - you can only search through current auctions (as far as I can see) regards lawrence (24 years ago, 3-Sep-00, to lugnet.market.appraisal, lugnet.market.auction)
