Hi Chris and other potential New LUG members,

From: "Christopher Weeks" <clweeks@eclipse.net>
<snip>
1) We should discuss online what we want to be forming: what our purpose • is,
who's going to be involved, what degree of formality there will be, what
geography we hope to include, etc.  And then we should meet, and further • talk
about that kind of stuff as well as LEGO.

Our purpose, how about something like this:  To promote an environment that
will allow collectors, builders and other enthusiasts of Lego bricks to
converse, show creations, trade and otherwise explore the possiblities of
building (and playing) with Lego bricks.

What degree of formality will there be:  I would suggest that the level of
formality would better be discussed in person, when several of the people
who have expressed interest are able to be in the same place.  I think that
the first couple of meetings should be informal, and this will help the
potential members get a feel for how the group would turn out if/when it got
organized.

<snip>
Do we need to find a place where we can meet?

I think that would be in order.  I'll vollunteer my house if the crowd • will be
manageable.  (Size, I mean, not attitude :-)  I'm in zip code 08853, so • check
one of the online map sites to see how far that is from your house to see • if
that will work for you.  I think it's pretty central for the area that • we're
discussing.

I checked with Yahoo Maps, and it tells me that from my house to your zip
code (08853) will take me about 1 hour 45 minutes.  Who knows, it may even
be right. :-)  That sort of travelling time would be fine for me.  I do
agree that your area seems to be centralized for the area that we are
talking about.

<snip>
I would like to do public events, but I don't think that our first couple
meetings should be.  We'll have to work organizational stuff out if we're
building something formal.

I also agree that public events should be much later in the evolution of
this group.  The first priority should be getting some people together and
seeing what happens.

(...) Hello, Thanks for posting Andy, I kept meaning to post something very much like what you did, and it just wasn't happening. (...) Well, I think we should follow one of two courses of action: 1) We should discuss online what we want to be (...)
