Ideally, I'd like to give people at least 4-6 months [1] advance notice
for the first Fest, then hold the next one on or around the same time
frame. If a better time frame works better for you, please let me know.
We'll take it into consideration.

I kinda envision this similar to a comic convention that we have here in
town around Thanksgiving time. That when/if the Fest gets big enough, we
can hold it three days instead of one. We can hire/have someone volenteer
to come in and host a live auctions of sets (a percentage would go towards
paying for the auctioneer or be donated the the next Fest fund). Have
people come in & have hold discussions & demonstrations (like the best
way to clean pieces, the do's & don'ts of removing marking from
pieces -- where's Mike Stanly :), building a better bridge, etc.)
Oh, and we even thew out the idea of having support groups & workshops for
our non-LEGO spouces (NLSO, right?). :) Over the past year, I've met
several NLSO's who are frustrated with their significant other's obcession.
It would give them a chance to sit around & tell stories [2] also. :)

Oops. I completely forgot about this one. It was mentioned in our
little informal discussion, but forgot about it last night. If possible,
it would be nice to get it mentioned in other papers in cities close by
(ie. Dayton, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Toledo, Indianapolis, Pittsburg,
Detroit, etc.)... but that might be a little hard...

... Not that I want to short-change the youth group -- I think it's a good
idea -- but ideally I'd like for the extra money to go towards funding the
next event; that way we can add on, expand, or just in general make the
next Fest even better. But I'll check into what the local community paper
require to list community events... Ideally, it would be a non-profit event,
the extra money would go into a like trust fund or something... or some
percentage to the youth group/trust fund can be worked out.

[1] I need to fill out my vacation plans for next year by the end of day
today, so I'm thinking about going ahead and schedualing that time off.
I've also told my boss that I might be unexpectedly sick the day the new
Star Wars movie priemers -- he just smiled & said he might be sick around
the time too. :)
[2] I plan to attend just go hear the stories. I bet they are very funny!

| Hi, I like the idea of a LEGOfest, and almost certainly would go. I'd also like to throw out a few ideas for more discusion, but I won't have time for a week or so. One thing no one has mentioned is a play area. I don't think you can have a LEGOfest (...) (26 years ago, 3-Feb-99, to lugnet.loc.us.oh.col)
