Speaking of which, until we have modules, etc for a layout with hidden

that if you get a 9V wire, cut one plate off and put a plug on it, you can • feed
the "main" controller with wall voltage, box it up in Lego bricks/plates
completely, and feed it into another controller.  That way the little kiddies
can't run the train fullspeed.

That's assuming the 2nd controller could handle the reduced voltage.

It might not. I don't like doing that cuz IMO it'll strain the 317 regulator
to put out what it's supposed to. Even if it could put out 9V with a 7.5V
supply, I can't imagine the current remaining the same. I know we're using DC
loads, but we don't want to have to worry about more than one motor on a track
overloading the circuit, esp. since more than motor usually indicates a
loooong (and therefore heavy) train. Maybe someone who has done it can shed
some light if it does indeed work.

(...) The person with a lot of experence is Dan Parker dnvpark@gte.net He has done a lot of the rerigging of the stuff for PNLTC, and likely can answer your questions...that or he knows who to ask! James P (25 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.loc.us.ca.sf)
