Kingston is almost on the way between LHR and LGW but it'a an awful place to get to and from by car and you'd need to allow at least 5 hours (2 hours to fight through the traffic, park and find the shop, 1 hour to shop, and 2 hours to Gatwick, (...) (20 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.loc.uk)

At the Hull (UK) Model Railway Show last weekend, my 8mm:1ft scale British Class 28 CoBo engine (known to fans of Thomas as "BoCo") won the A1 Models Trophy for the best "modern outline" exhibit. Kingston-Upon-Thames might be OK if the weather is nice. Short train ride from Waterloo Hampton Court Palace is just down the road and across the park ( (URL) shopping centre. Some good pubs along the river Oh yes, and a Lego Brand shop in the (...) (20 years ago, 13-Oct-04, to lugnet.loc.uk)
