  Greetings

Time to de-lurk and introduce myself, as thanks to a combination of Jon Hayward and Jennifer Clark I've managed to succesfully subscribe here. I'm a PhD student at York University studying music technology. Other interests include architecture (...) (22 years ago, 4-Jun-02, to lugnet.loc.uk)

(...) Check out the links at the bottom of the sidebar - apart from the 10th of August there is a NBLTC meeting coming up and Lawrence Wilkes has mentioned another Thames Valley Lego Fest in passing (probably September, Lawrence?) By Jove I ought to de-lurk myself then. I'm an Australian now working at ... York University ... I was once (about two years ago) somewhat active in .loc.au but have maintained radio silence for a while thanks to being overworked with my PhD. (...) (22 years ago, 5-Jun-02, to lugnet.loc.uk)

Hi all, Two Australian Lego-collecting Postdocs in the UK! What are the odds of that?? Well ... maybe not too bad I guess. I actually de-lurked some time ago but haven't been posting much. I'm still accumulating all the pieces I need for my Grand (...) (22 years ago, 6-Jun-02, to lugnet.loc.uk)

(...) In fact, its the reverse of the usual assertion - "Australians seem to have a general distaste with the mainly American-centric organization of lugnet and TLC. Thus they have diverged as a group, many of their posters post very rarely in other (...) (22 years ago, 17-Jun-02, to lugnet.loc.uk, lugnet.loc.au)

  Re: Greetings

(...) Er. That proves that impressions can be misleading, perhaps that things have changed since I noticed (thought I noticed) it, and certainly that I should make sure, before I say something, that my foot is nowhere near my mouth. So, I offer a (...) (22 years ago, 17-Jun-02, to lugnet.loc.uk, lugnet.loc.au)

  Re: Greetings

(...) Mmmmm. I have noticed that we (Australians) tend more to keep to ourselves rather than fan out into the theme groups. Even those of us that start out mainly in theme groups tend to end up back chiefly in loc.au I guess a consequence would be a (...) (22 years ago, 18-Jun-02, to lugnet.loc.uk, lugnet.loc.au)

  Re: Greetings

(...) This is certainly true for me. I find loc.au to be a more tolerant place than some other corners of LUGnet (anyone visited .direct recently!), and I think this is because I have physically met a lot of the loc.au regulars. I think that, having (...) (22 years ago, 19-Jun-02, to lugnet.loc.uk, lugnet.loc.au)

(...) Well I'm back occassionally now but I was very busy. Much more relaxed now that I've entered the illustrious world of academe... Not much Lego here 'though. Tim PS.
