I notice the caboose now has a price of £10.99
Which would indicate an exchange rate of 1.36 compared to the US price of $14.99

And would price the 10016 and 17 at £14.69

I note that the German price of the Caboose is 29.95DM - which is £9.22

I received this from Lego today in response to my questioning the price
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear LEGO® Shop at Home Customer,

Thank you for contacting LEGO Shop At Home. The reason for the
difference in pricing is that all the 'continental' prices are related
to the Euro and therefore are the same; UK prices are slightly higher
because of the fluctuation of the Pound.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

However, 20% is still excessive given that the exchange rate has fluctuated less than 10% in the last 18 months.

Also, their 'continental' prices are NOT the same. Germany is still cheaper than Holland for example, even though both
currencies are pegged to the Euro.

Nor would I describe 20% as slight!

I understand your point - and I am just as unhappy as you are. But as long
as we buy the sets at that price, they will sell tham at that price. I am
sure the prices they have set were done after considering just what the
market is willing to pay.

regards
lawrence
